Mechanical Senior Project Manager
Senior Mechanical Project Manager — Leicester
A leading engineering business based in Leicester is looking for an experienced Senior Mechanical Project Manager to lead the successful delivery of complex mechanical engineering projects from initial concept through to completion.
This is a senior-level opportunity for an accomplished project manager with a strong mechanical engineering background, excellent commercial awareness and the ability to lead multidisciplinary teams, manage key stakeholders and deliver projects safely, on time and within budget.
The Role
The Senior Mechanical Project Manager will take overall responsibility for the planning, coordination and delivery of major mechanical engineering projects. Working closely with engineering, design, procurement, manufacturing and site teams, the successful candidate will ensure projects meet technical, commercial, quality and programme requirements.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Managing mechanical engineering projects from design and development through to installation, commissioning and handover.
- Developing and maintaining detailed project programmes, budgets and delivery plans.
- Leading multidisciplinary project teams and coordinating internal departments, contractors and suppliers.
- Managing project risks, issues, change control and commercial performance.
- Working closely with customers and key stakeholders to ensure expectations and contractual requirements are met.
- Reviewing engineering designs, specifications and technical documentation.
- Coordinating procurement, manufacturing, installation and commissioning activities.
- Ensuring projects are delivered in accordance with health & safety, quality and regulatory requirements.
- Monitoring project progress, costs and performance, providing regular updates to senior management.
- Supporting business development, tendering and estimating activities where required.
- Driving continuous improvement across project delivery processes.
About the Candidate
The ideal Senior Mechanical Project Manager will have a strong track record of delivering complex mechanical engineering projects and be comfortable operating at a senior level within a technically demanding environment.
The successful candidate is likely to have:
- Significant project management experience within mechanical engineering, manufacturing, industrial engineering or a related sector.
- A recognised mechanical qualification
- Proven experience managing sizeable projects, budgets and multidisciplinary teams.
- Strong understanding of mechanical engineering principles, manufacturing processes and project lifecycles.
- Excellent commercial, contractual and financial management skills.
- Strong communication and stakeholder-management abilities.
- The confidence to make decisions, manage competing priorities and resolve complex project issues.
- Experience with project management methodologies, planning tools and risk management.
- A proactive, structured and commercially focused approach.

Electrical Estimator
Electrical Estimator

An established and highly respected building services contractor is looking to strengthen its pre-construction team with the appointment of Electrical Estimators.
There are two opportunities available, making this an excellent opportunity for both an Intermediate Electrical Estimator looking to develop their career and a Senior Electrical Estimator with strong experience who can take ownership of larger and more complex tenders.
The successful candidates will be responsible for the accurate pricing of electrical services throughout the pre-construction and tender process, working closely with the wider estimating, design and project teams.
The Role
The Electrical Estimator will be responsible for reviewing tender documentation, completing electrical take-offs, obtaining supplier and subcontractor quotations and producing accurate, commercially competitive tenders.
The role will also involve developing designs where required, identifying value engineering opportunities and ensuring all tender submissions are fully compliant with the client’s requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Fully appraise, interrogate and understand tender information.
- Review, file and monitor tender documentation to ensure quotations are prepared against the correct information.
- Complete detailed measurements and electrical services take-offs from drawings and specifications.
- Obtain a competitive spread of supplier and subcontractor quotations.
- Follow up supplier and subcontractor enquiries to ensure quotations are received within required timescales.
- Review and technically evaluate supplier, material and subcontractor quotations.
- Prepare clear cost comparisons and analysis for senior management.
- Raise RFIs during the tender period to clarify project requirements and constraints.
- Develop electrical designs during the tender process where required, or engage with design support to ensure a compliant solution is provided.
- Provide electrical input into contractor proposals, specifications and tender schedules.
- Prepare tender information and present schemes and associated costs at adjudication meetings.
- Prepare value engineering proposals and alternative cost options where required.
- Attend pre-tender meetings, CPDs and relevant training.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of electrical products, materials, suppliers and subcontractors.
- Work closely with the project delivery team to ensure a clear and consistent handover following successful tender awards.
Intermediate Electrical Estimator
The Intermediate position would suit an Electrical Estimator with around 2+ years’ estimating experience who is looking to continue developing their technical and commercial knowledge within an established M&E environment.
This would be a particularly good opportunity for someone who has gained experience assisting with tenders, take-offs, supplier enquiries and pricing and is now looking to take greater ownership of projects.
Senior Electrical Estimator
The Senior position would suit an experienced Electrical Estimator who is comfortable taking ownership of tenders from initial enquiry through to final submission and adjudication.
The successful candidate will have the technical understanding and commercial awareness to challenge pricing, identify risks and opportunities, develop value engineering options and confidently present tenders to senior management.
About You
The ideal candidate will have:
- Previous experience within an Electrical Estimator position.
- Experience within the building services / M&E sector.
- Strong understanding of electrical services and construction.
- Ability to interpret drawings, specifications and tender documentation.
- Experience carrying out electrical take-offs and preparing tenders.
- Strong IT skills, particularly Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a wider team.
- Good commercial awareness and a proactive approach to problem solving.
- Ability to work to deadlines and manage multiple tenders.
- A full UK driving licence.
For the Intermediate position, approximately 2+ years’ relevant estimating experience would be preferred. Senior candidates with significantly more experience are also encouraged to apply.
