An established and reputable family-run business, is seeking a skilled Electrical/MEP Estimator/Quantity Surveyor. This company is dedicated to quality and has a strong presence across various sectors including retail, hospitality, and leisure. They work with prestigious clients and specialise in installation, testing, commissioning, and proactive/reactive maintenance, particularly in the airport sector, with a focus on major UK airports.
Position Overview: The company is looking for an experienced Electrical/MEP Estimator/Quantity Surveyor to join their team. The ideal candidate should have a proven track record in pricing commercial tenders and managing project costs from initial enquiry to final handover. This role is primarily based at the head office located in Swindon, with occasional travel to various sites across the UK, primarily in the southern region.
Key Responsibilities:
- Estimate costs for new MEP enquiries, including obtaining supplier prices and preparing tender submissions, with a focus on electrical projects and occasional mechanical and plumbing aspects.
- Conduct site surveys and participate in tender interviews as needed.
- Collaborate with the Project Manager to ensure timely placement of material orders in line with tender specifications.
- Attend meetings with clients and their representatives, providing updates on contractual and financial matters throughout the project lifecycle.
- For larger projects, issue payment or pay-less notices in compliance with contractual requirements.
- Work closely with the Project Manager to ensure projects are delivered within budget.
- Coordinate with internal teams, including the Fit-Out and Mechanical teams, particularly on joint M&E tenders.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in pricing electrical or MEP commercial projects, with strong technical and commercial acumen.
- Ability to accurately estimate costs and timelines, with a proven ability to meet tender deadlines.
- Proficiency in computer use, particularly with Microsoft Word and Excel.
- A general understanding of mechanical and plumbing systems.
