Job Title: Senior / Quantity Surveyor

Salary: £45,000 – £75,000 (Possibly more for the right candidate)

We currently have a number fantastic opportunities within the residential market working alongside some of the top award-winning house builders who are looking for an experienced Senior / Quantity Surveyor’s to run large multiphase developments throughout East Anglia. Ideally looking for a candidate with a strong Residential knowledge background.

Duties & Responsibilities of a Quantity surveyor:

• Running a large multiphase developments
• Timely Procurement and management of sub-contract packages and consultant appointments in conjunction with technical project lead
• Management of client and 3rd party contracts, valuations and variations
• Maximize margin through value engineering, implementing robust commercial strategies and proactive management of subcontractor accounts
• Optimize cash flow through external valuations and control of subcontractor accounts.
• Ensure correct contractual procedures are operated for both Main Contracts and Subcontracts.
• Monitor that subcontract conditions are ‘Back-to-Back’ with main contract conditions
• Claims preparation and recovery
• Provide monthly Cost Value Reports and monthly Margin Analysis
• Forecast Out-turn Margin/Commercial Analysis / program / progress in conjunction with Line Management and review monthly

Desirable Experience & Qualification of a Quantity surveyor:

• Experience working for a Main Contractor and leading your own projects.
• Shown longevity in their career.
• University degree.

Skills of a Quantity surveyor:

• Degree qualified
• A creative and innovative approach to problem solving
• Strong numeracy and financial management skills
• The ability to learn sophisticated design and costing IT packages
• The ability to write clear and precise reports and to relate complex information in a simple way to a diverse range of people
• Negotiation and team work skills
• The ability to motivate and lead those on site
• A detailed knowledge of past and current building and construction technology, processes, materials, business and legal matters.

Company & Project for an Estimator:

Our client is a leading residential developer looking to add an estimator to their commercial team. As their Estimator you will be responsible for working alongside other members of their Pre-Construction team. The successful candidate will come from a housebuilding, residential contractor or building background and be experienced in pricing work from first principles as well as utilising supply chain information.

We are pleased to say, this role can accommodate agile working arrangements.

Duties & Responsibilities of an Estimator:

• Produce accurate take-off’s from plans
• Understanding drawings and contracts
• Preparing bills of quantities
• Understanding methods of procurement
• Providing a detailed and accurate schedule of rates
• Developing detailed specifications during the tender process
• Calculating interim valuations
• Become a key member of their Pre-construction team, reporting and adding value to our fortnightly pipeline and Development progress meetings.
• Work closely with Procurement, Commercial and Construction teams to ensure 360’ feedback.
• Initial appraisal of development sites based on information provided. Assess risks and opportunities, establish viability.
• Financial modelling of cost and revenue streams to determine funding requirements of each development.

Desirable Experience of an Estimator:

• Minimum of 2 years’ experience as an Estimator
• Experienced with estimating on a wide range of projects including both commercial and domestic projects

Qualifications & Skills of an Estimator:

• Qualified to HNC, HND or Degree Level
• Professional, proactive and driven individual
• Experience with estimating packages essential

Job Title: Building Surveyor

Location: Birmingham

Start Date: ASAP

Salary: £35k – £40k (depending on experience)

Our client, a well-known contractor is currently looking for a Building Surveyor to work with their Planned maintenance housing association contracts. This role can either be permanent or CIS contract employed. 

The company specialise in Refurbishment projects and housing associations to which they are a main contractor on. 

Duties & Responsibilities of a Building Surveyor:

• To undertake all Surveying duties on your contracts.
• To establish, maintain, and enhance effective working relationships with the client and all members of the client’s team.
• Ensure all subcontractors are on our approved list
• Schedule and coordinate necessary remedial works, ensuring timely completion and minimal disruption to tenants.
• Liaise with contractors, suppliers to obtain quotes, monitor progression & plan repairs.
• Maintain accurate records of property conditions, surveys, and repairs required.
• Provide outstanding customer care to tenant concerns, providing regular updates, and ensuring high levels of service.

Desirable Experience required to work as a Building Surveyor:

• A very high level of industry awareness.
• An understanding of financial management.
• Must have a minimum of 2 years’ experience working as a Building Surveyor.

Working hours: 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday 8am-4:30pm

Salary: £35,000 – £37,000 + Van & Fuel card provided

We are currently looking for a qualified Electrician to work for one of our clients, a reputable local council based in Kings Lynn. You will be responsible for carrying out reactive, void and EICR Electrical works in void & occupied properties in the Norwich area.

Desirable Experience & Qualifications for the role of Domestic Electrician:

• As the Domestic Electrician you’ll be working on housing association properties in the Norwich area.
• As the Domestic Electrician you’ll be required to carry out fault diagnosis, repair and install electrical installation works.
• As the Domestic Electrician you’ll be doing Void EICRs, Occupied EICRs, Reactive repairs, Planned Works (upgrades/rewires).

Required Experience & Qualification for the role of Domestic Electrician:

• 18th Edition
• City and Guild 2360 – Part 1 & Part 2
• City & Guilds Electrical Periodic Inspection, Testing and Certification (2391-52)
• Electrical theory quals. (various e.g. C+G 2330 Levels 2 and 3)
• Prove good practice of health & safety regulations
• UK Driving licence
