About the Role

We have an exciting opportunity for an Assistant Site Manager to join our clients friendly team in Suffolk.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist the Site Manager in coordinating trades and directing labour and materials to meet the production schedule.
• Collaborate with the Sales Team to ensure attendance at regular Build/Sales meetings, adherence to all Build/Sales procedures, and inspections of show homes.
• Take on responsibilities as determined by the Site Manager and deputise as needed.
• Support the Site Manager in ensuring the on-site construction team is well-resourced and directed, with clear job responsibilities.
• Provide support to site workers in fulfilling their job responsibilities through effective communication, training, development, and managing site workload and resources.
• Deliver exceptional customer service in accordance with company guidelines.
• Implement and adhere to Safety, Health, and Environment policies and procedures, along with legal requirements and best practices.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with clients throughout the construction process and ensure successful project completion, delivering enhanced value to both the client and the company.

About You

• NVQ Level 4 in Construction Site Management or equivalent.
• CSCS – Gold Supervisor.
• SMSTS certification.
• First Aid at Work qualification.
• Basic Scaffold Inspection (CISRS).
• BREGS certification or willingness to complete during the probationary period.
• Fire Safety for low-rise flats and housing certification, or willingness to achieve during probation.
• Environment Supervision in Construction Training – SSP (SEATS).
• Experience working to established build programmes.
• Proven ability in coordinating and supervising a site-based labour force.
• Track record of meeting delivery targets within residential development.
• Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks in response to changing business needs.
• In-depth knowledge of all aspects of the construction trade and relevant legislative requirements, including Health and Safety, NHBC standards, and Building Regulations.
• Good understanding and experience in addressing customer service issues.
• Proficient IT skills, including Office, Word, and Excel.
• Full UK Driving Licence.

Senior Engineer

Location: Suffolk

Salary: £50,000 to £70,000 + Package

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Engineer to join our clients team in Suffolk. Candidates should have a background in Construction or Civil Engineering, with prior experience as a Senior Engineer in a Civil Engineering Highways setting being essential.

As a Senior Engineer, you will report to the Site Agent/Project Manager and will oversee engineering operations on the project. Your role will involve ensuring that construction aligns with contract drawings, specifications, and procedures while managing site and trainee engineers.

Key Responsibilities:

Experience/Knowledge:

• Previous experience as a Senior Engineer (or equivalent) with a civil engineering contractor.
• Familiarity with general civil works in a highways context, including Site Clearance, Drainage & Service Ducts, Earthworks, Pavements, Kerbs & Footways, and Street Lighting.
• Strong understanding of CDM regulations and temporary works.
• Knowledgeable about specifications and testing processes relevant to civil engineering and highway works.
• Commercially aware, with experience in a cost-sensitive environment.

Skills:

• Excellent communication and team management abilities.
• Capability to address HSEQ matters and lead by example.
• Proficient in using BIM software.
• Familiarity with design software such as AutoCAD or similar (preferred).

Qualifications:

• Degree/HNC in Civil Engineering or equivalent.
• Membership with a relevant engineering institution or working towards it (preferred).
• Relevant health and safety certification.
• Valid CSCS card.
• Full UK driving license.

Health, Safety & Environment:

• Write/check RAMS and TBS, communicate to the workforce, and monitor compliance.
• Contribute to safety targets and uphold a zero-tolerance policy towards unsafe practices.
• Establish and implement site systems consistent with company standards, including health, safety, and quality systems.
• Ensure timely receipt of permits for works to proceed.

Programme & Progress:

• Review short-term lookahead programmes and provide site feedback.
• Report on site issues that may cause delays or affect progress.
• Assist in identifying and resolving site issues impacting the programme.

Design & Design Assurance:

• Familiarize yourself with design drawings and specifications to ensure accurate construction.
• Collaborate with the Temporary Works Coordinator to identify and communicate temporary works requirements.
• Raise Material Approval Records and procure materials according to the programme.
• Identify issues from drawings and specifications, raising queries with relevant parties as needed.

Quality Management:

• Write/check Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs) and ensure they are communicated and followed.
• Maintain organized QA records in line with ITPs and project requirements.
• Document, track, and close out Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) while sharing lessons learned.
• Compile quality handover documentation as per ITPs and handover criteria.
• Lead quality readiness reviews, capturing lessons learned and areas for improvement.

Site Agent!

Location: Suffolk

Salary: Up to £70,000 + Package

ARC Group is excited to be on the look out for a Site Agent to join our clients team in Suffolk. We are seeking candidates with a Civil Engineering background and experience in earthworks, drainage, communication ducts, and pavement construction, preferably within a highways context.

In this prominent Tier 1 environment, you will need to demonstrate a strong focus on health, safety, environmental, and quality standards. The ideal candidate should be self-driven, possess a positive attitude, communicate effectively, lead assertively, work well under pressure, and build collaborative relationships.

As a Site Agent, you will oversee a diverse team responsible for executing various civil engineering work packages, ensuring compliance with health, safety, environmental, and quality standards according to the clients management system and contractual obligations.

Key Responsibilities:

Health, Safety, and Environment

• Provide strong, proactive leadership in maintaining health, safety, environmental, and quality standards.
• Contribute to the achievement of the clients safety targets and uphold a zero-tolerance policy for unsafe practices.
• Establish and implement site systems and controls in line with company standards and project requirements.
• Ensure that risk assessments and method statements are produced and communicated to site supervision.
• Promote Behavioural Safety programme and support the reporting of hazards and best practices.
• Advocate for the health and wellbeing of all staff and frontline workers.

Programme and Production

• Contribute to value engineering and assess the buildability of the project.
• Collaborate with planners and production teams to agree on construction methods and schedules.
• Monitor and control resource requirements, production outputs, and overhead targets.
• Conduct thorough analyses of resourced programmes and create operational target programmes that align with the overall contract timeline.
• Lead short-term planning and effectively communicate these plans to the site team and supply chain.

Operational Excellence

• Provide effective leadership and management for your team.
• Organise resources for the overall control and execution of works, including the selection of subcontractors when necessary.
• Ensure the procurement of materials and equipment meets specifications and planned work schedules while managing waste effectively.
• Ensure that RAMS, ITPs, and MARs are approved before work begins, and that all testing procedures are established and followed.
• Oversee all permitting and approvals.
• Identify temporary works requirements and manage the production of accurate temporary works designs.
• Ensure project quality standards and handover requirements are met, with timely production and resolution of non-conformance reports.

Experience and Knowledge:

• Significant experience in Civil Engineering with a strong technical background.
• Proven experience in constructing all aspects of highway works.
• Knowledge of CDM Regulations and their implementation.
• Familiarity with specifications and testing regimes relevant to civil engineering and highway works.
• Ability to produce RAMS, Task Briefing Sheets, and safe systems of work, along with knowledge of safety, quality, and environmental systems.
• Experience managing a small team and demonstrating strong organisational skills.

Qualifications:

• Degree, HNC, or HND in Civil Engineering or a related field.
• Desirable: Membership of the Institution of Civil Engineers or equivalent.
• IOSH Managing Safely certification.
• SMSTS and valid CSCS card.
• Temporary Works Supervisor/Coordinator qualification is preferred.
• First Aid and Fire Marshall certifications are advantageous.
• Fit for work medical or safety-critical medical certification is desirable.
