Mechanical Estimator (Junior–Mid Level) – Building Services
Cambridge | £45,000–£55,000 Depending on Background | Hybrid Working | Permanent
Our client, a recognised and established Building Services contractor operating across Cambridge and the wider region, is looking to appoint a Mechanical Estimator to strengthen its expanding pre-construction team.
Please note: sponsorship and visa support are not available for this position. Applicants must have the unrestricted right to work in the UK.
Hybrid Working
This role offers a flexible hybrid working model with a blend of office-based collaboration and remote working, alongside project and stakeholder engagement where required.
This opportunity is ideally suited to candidates with early to intermediate estimating experience who are looking to develop their career within a supportive environment and gain exposure to high-profile Building Services projects.
Working alongside experienced estimators and commercial professionals, the successful candidate will contribute to the preparation of competitive mechanical tenders and develop a strong understanding of project costing and delivery.
Key Responsibilities

Assist in preparing mechanical estimates and tender submissions.

Review drawings, specifications, and project documentation.

Obtain and compare supplier and subcontractor quotations.

Support cost planning, take-offs, and pricing exercises.

Maintain estimating records and tender documentation.

Work collaboratively with internal departments to develop accurate submissions.

Contribute to value engineering and cost-saving initiatives.

Participate in handovers to delivery teams following successful tenders.
Candidate Requirements

Previous experience within Building Services estimating, mechanical contracting, quantity surveying, or a related construction discipline.

Understanding of mechanical systems including HVAC and public health services is beneficial.

Strong numerical and analytical skills with attention to detail.

Ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Good communication skills and a proactive approach to learning.

Relevant qualifications or ongoing professional development are welcomed.
