This month marks a significant milestone for Abbie, one of our Directors, as she celebrates 10 years with ARC Group – a decade of growth, achievement and dedication.
From joining the business in 2016 with no recruitment experience to becoming a Director, Abbie’s journey is a brilliant example of how passion, determination and a willingness to learn can lead to an incredibly rewarding career. Her progression to becoming a business owner shows that dedication, passion and hard work are rewarded.
From Construction to Recruitment
Before joining ARC Group, Abbie worked in the construction industry at a roofing merchant. After relocating to Norfolk and stepping away from construction for a year, she found herself missing the industry she’d grown to love.
“When I saw the role advertised as a Construction Recruitment Consultant, I thought, ‘Do I have transferable skills?’ The rest is history!”
Taking that leap into recruitment proved to be the start of an exciting career with ARC Group.
A Decade of Growth
Over the past 10 years, Abbie has built an impressive career at ARC. Joining the business in 2016 as a Recruitment Consultant with no previous recruitment experience, she quickly progressed through a number of leadership roles before being appointed Director in 2024.
Reflecting on her career, Abbie says she always expected to stay with a company long term, but never imagined she’d reach the position she holds today.
“I certainly didn’t think I would be at the level I am now.”

Embracing Change
Like the recruitment industry itself, Abbie’s role has continually evolved.
“So much has changed – recruitment as a whole, the sectors that I work in, and during my time we’ve gone through a global pandemic, so there’s been lots to contend with!”
Through changing markets and new challenges, she’s remained committed to supporting clients, candidates and colleagues alike.
It’s All About the People
When asked what has made her time at ARC so special, the answer came instantly.
“The people.”
Whether it’s building long-term relationships with clients and candidates or working alongside supportive colleagues, those connections have been at the heart of her career.
And there’s one relationship that stands out above all the rest…
“I should probably say meeting my husband here!”
Alongside the day-to-day work, Abbie says the team has created countless memories together.
“There have been so many! We certainly like a social, and the saying ‘work hard, play hard’ is very apparent.”
Thinking About a Career in Recruitment?
Having spent a decade in recruitment, Abbie has some honest advice for anyone considering the industry.
“It’s very Marmite – you either love it or hate it, and that’s okay. If you love it, you’ll do well. The highs and the lows are a rollercoaster, but if you enjoy it, it will be the best thing you can ever do.”
She also believes people shouldn’t feel pressured into choosing a career too early.
“Do whatever makes you happy. Don’t rush to commit to a career – there’s too much pressure on people at such a young age these days.”
