Job Title: Quantity Surveyor

Salary: £50k-£65k (depending on experience)

Our client, a well-known contractor is currently looking for a Quantity Surveyor to join them on a permanent basis.

The company specialise in new build and refurbishment projects.

Duties & Responsibilities of a Quantity Surveyor:

• To undertake all Quantity Surveying duties on your contracts.
• To direct and control all financial and legal aspects of your construction contract ensuring that it is profitable.
• To be aware of the company’s business plan and its aims
• To establish, maintain, and enhance effective working relationships with the client and all members of the client’s team.
• Prepare any loss and expense claims arising out of the extension of time claims.
• Ensure all subcontractors are on our approved list
• Working with the contract team to manage the design on a design and build contract with a view of ensuring that changes are made for the financial benefit of the company.
• Working with the team to ensure that the request for information schedule Includes and financial or legal elements
• To establish a procurement strategy, with a procurement schedule In line with the time requirements of the operational and design deliverables for the project.

Desirable Experience required to work as a Quantity Surveyor:

• A very high level of commercial awareness of the industry
• A good knowledge of, building law, the law of contract and statutory requirements.
• An understanding of financial management.
• Must have a minimum of 2 years’ experience working as a Quantity Surveyor for a Tier 1 or Tier 2 contractor.

Qualifications & Skills required to work as a Quantity Surveyor:

• Good organisational and presentation skills
• General business awareness, a practical mind and sound judgement
• Must have good communication skills and be able to work as part of a team

Our client, a well-known contractor is currently looking for an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join them on a permanent basis.

The company specialise in new build and refurbishment projects.

Duties & Responsibilities (including and not limited to):

• To establish, maintain, and enhance effective working relationships with the client and all members of the client’s team
• To support the commercial management of projects with the aim of delivering additional profit
• Meet supply chain procurement deadlines
• To check and agree all contract documentation.
• To check all insurances and organise bonds if required
• Ensure all subcontractors are on the companies approved list
• Prepare all subcontractors payments certificates in accordance with their terms and conditions of contract
• Agree the interim payments and final accounts of all subcontractors and deal with all retention Issues

Skills required to work as an Assistant Quantity Surveyor:

• An understanding of financial management
• An ability to manage staff constructively and challenge underperformance.
• An ability to take decisions.
• Good ICT and communication skills
• Accurate with figures.
• Ability to negotiate and agree contract accounts.
• Highly motivated and ability to motivate others.
• Must have good timekeeping skills.

The company specialise in new build and refurbishment projects.

Duties & Responsibilities of a Senior Quantity Surveyor:

• Preparing tender and contract documents
• Undertaking cost analysis for tender returns on the project & produce comparison.
• Assisting in establishing the client’s requirements and undertaking feasibility studies.
• Performing risk and value management and cost control.
• Advising on procurement strategy, & responsible for timely procurement.
• Identifying, analysing and developing responses to commercial risks.
• Allocating work to subcontractors.
• Providing advice on contractual claims.
• Analysing outcomes and writing detailed progress reports.
• Valuing completed work and arranging payments.
• Maintaining awareness of the different building contracts in current use.
• Understanding the implications of health and safety regulations.
• Prepare manage and update monthly cashflows
• Monthly sub-contract valuations
• Monthly client valuations & variations, assess, value, and agree.

Desirable Experience required to work as a Senior Quantity Surveyor:

• A proven record of success in commercial management.
• At least 5 years senior level experience of management of people and resources.
• Ideally have experience working for a Tier 1 or Tier 2 contractor.

Our client, a well-known contractor is currently looking for a Site Manager (major works) to join them on a permanent basis.

The company specialise in new build and refurbishment projects.

Duties & Responsibilities of a Site Manager:

• Assist in early procurement elements
• Carry out material take offs and requisition through buying
• Control and manage the subcontractors on site
• Assist in initial site set up and site mobilization
• Attend site progress meetings with subcontractors, suppliers, and consultants
• Assist in the compilation of various reports as directed by the line manager
• Investigate determine cause of any near misses and or accidents and report findings with preventative measures.
• Accompany the safety department in carrying out on-site inspections and assist in any SHEQ audits.
• Manage the carrying out of monthly toolbox talks with subcontractors and team members
• To attend all project and company meetings in a professional manner ensuring that all reports, presentations, programmes, schedules and other supporting Information Is accurate to the time of reporting, compiled and distributed ahead of said meeting.

Skills required to work as a Site Manager:

• Be technically strong and knowledgeable and commercially aware
• Strong communication skills with good interpersonal and influencing skills
• Good ICT and presentation skills
• Must have good attention to detail
• Knowledge of business packages including diary formats, w/p, databases, spreadsheets, PowerPoint, design, desk top publishing and internet facilities.

Desirable Experience & Qualifications:

• Successful track record in delivering projects.
• Knowledge of differing forms of contract
• Success In delivering a variety of different construction types.
• Knowledge and experience in delivering a variety of project sizes
• Must have experience working for a Tier 1 or 2 contractor working on either NEC, Traditional build, D&B and bespoke contracts.
• Knowledge and experience of working in a multitude of different environments
