Job Title: Senior Quantity Surveyor

Are you a Senior Quantity Surveyor looking for your next challenge? Our client is one of the UK’s leading and award winning residential developers and are looking for a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join their team in Cambridge.

Duties & Responsibilities of a Senior Quantity Surveyor:

• Manage all sub-contract orders on site, meeting sub-contractors as and when required.
• Price customer extras and liaise with sales department as necessary.
• Assist with material buying when required.
• Assist the Estimator and / or Commercial Manager with take-off for land appraisals when required.
• Maintain trade specifications.
• Manage Professional Fees Budget.
• Produce draft budgets and site start budgets for each site allocated to the Quantity Surveyor.
• Produce sub-contract payments and final accounts, ensuring that the sub-contractor has signed these off.
• Produce sub-contract orders, ensuring they are authorised by the authorised representative, together with all necessary documentation to comply with Group Commercial Policy.
• Complete on-site measurements and assess payments to contractors.

Desirable Experience required to be a Senior Quantity Surveyor:

• Minimum of 2 years’ experience as a Senior Quantity Surveyor.
• Experienced with residential projects.
• Knowledge of cost control systems and valuation reporting.

Qualifications & Skills required to be a Senior Quantity Surveyor:

• Degree qualified is desirable but not essential.
• A creative and innovative approach to problem solving.
• Strong numeracy and financial management skills.
• The ability to learn sophisticated design and costing IT packages.
• The ability to write clear and precise reports and to relate complex information in a simple way to a diverse range of people.
• Negotiation and team work skills.
• The ability to motivate and lead those on site.

Job Title: Finishing Foreman

Location: Manchester/ North West area

Company & Project: Our client, a civil engineering and construction company are looking for a Finishing Foreman to work within the Manchester/ North West area.

Duties & Responsibilities of a Finishing Foreman (including and not limited to):

• Checking and registering materials and plant deliveries for compliance quality and quantity
• Checking and recording attendance and timekeeping of any other subcontractor/operatives
• Liaising with the Construction Manager and reporting progress, quality, environmental and health and safety matters
• Calling off materials, ordering sundry items and maintaining running totals records
• Supervising subcontract trades, general labour to ensure the highest quality, health and safety are met, and compliance to their order requirements
• Maintaining our health, safety, environmental and quality control procedures
• Utilizing and maintaining all company systems, procedures, forms and templates and policies
• Completion of site health and safety, quality and environmental inspections and all the job-related paperwork
• Read, understand, convey, and build to only approved drawings and specifications
• Coordinate delivery/pick up of materials as required
• Order and manage hired in equipment daily
• Record keeping for Change Control tracking, assessment, and monitoring
• Working to agreed programmes
• Must be able to work a mixture of days, nights and weekends

Desirable Experience & Skills required for a Finishing Foreman:

• Varied trade experience, especially joinery experience of the construction industry
• Knowledge of construction techniques, specifications, and details
• Previous people management experience
• Able to work unsupervised
• Good communication skills and able to deal with subcontractors and the internal team
• Problem solving skills and accountability for decisions made
• Commercial awareness
• Ability to motivate themselves and others
• Well organized and thorough, with good timekeeping skills
• Able to work on own initiative
• Be able to run a safe site ensuring the highest quality
• Be computer literate (excel, word, outlook)
• Have a good understanding of current Building Regulations, Health, Safety & Environmental legislation.
• SSSTS a minimum, but SMSTS preferred CSCS card
• First aid training
• Full UK Driving license
• Own transport
• Ideally able to supply own power tools and hand tools

Duties & Responsibilities of an Administrator:            

• Acting as the point of contact between the manager and clients
• Handling requests and queries appropriately
• Screen and direct phone calls and distribute correspondence
• Manage diary and schedule meetings and appointments
• Produce reports, presentations and briefs
• Devise and maintain office filing system
• Logging important information that will inform monthly reporting requirements
• Other general admin activities to support the project team
