Job description: Multi Trade – Resposive Maintenance and Void Works 

Location: Cambridge and surrounding areas

Salary: £32,000 – £34,000 Overtime + company van + fuel card. (Self-Employed options also available)

Our client – a large local social housing contractor providing maintenance services to properties across Cambridge is looking for an experienced multi trade to work on a domestic maintenance social housing contract assisting in the void operations and reactive maintenance in properties across the Cambridge region. The candidate will ideally be a skilled and experienced carpenter multi-trader. 
 
The successful individual will ideally hold a minimum NVQ2 or be time-served in carpentry or plumbing whilst also being experienced in completing various other day to day repairs/maintenance tasks such as basic plumbing, plastering, tiling, painting and decorating etc. As a skilled multi- trade operative with relevant experience in planneed maintenance and voids works you will be required to undertake a variety of allocated works across the area.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

• Management of day to day jobs allocated by a central team
• To ensure all assigned tasks are carried out in a safe and efficient standard.
• Promoting the client’s corporate image and excellent service standard on every resident visit.
• Making decisions upon specialist experience and knowledge.
• Ensuring compliance at all times with necessary regulations, standards, and legal responsibilities of repair work and contractor compliance.
• Managing van stock effectively.

Knowledge and Experience:

• Experience within a domestic maintenance environment.
• Carpenter / Multi Trade experience
• Excellent oral and written communication skills, telephone skills and interpersonal skills.
• Excellent planning and organisational skills.
• An understanding and ability to show excellent customer service skills.

Certificates and Qualifications

• Trade City & Guilds/ NVQ qualification (Preferred)
• Asbestos Awareness Training. (ARC can provide free online certification for this)
• Full UK driving license.

Working hours will be Monday to Friday 08:00am to 17:00pm with 30 minutes lunch. 

A pay rate of £18 per hour can be offered on a self-employed basis. The PAYE Salary is £32,000 and the rate will be dependent on the preferred method of payment

A van and fuel card will be issued with this role or full mileage paid. Unlimited overtime available and call out / stand by payments.

What is the Role?

You’ll be involved in the Contract and Project Management of multiple electrical projects from conception to completion inclusive of the following to ensure all safety, quality, technical and commercial requirements are met;

• Estimation of electrical projects including sub-contractor elements

• Engineering support to clients

• Design development

• Client management and development

• SHE management, project planning and operational delivery

• Setting to work and management of on-site teams

• Contract, financial and cost management

What Do I Need?

To be successful in this role you’ll have an Electrical background in a contracting environment with a proven track record of managing a portfolio of projects ranging for temporary power works from small project up to mulit  megawatt application. You’ll be educated to HNC or equivalent qualification or have relevant experience in an Electrical discipline. You’ll also have a working knowledge of CDM, ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 regulations, an understanding of technical drawings and a knowledge of general office applications inclusive of MS Project (or alternative).

You’ll also have excellent project management and communication skills, as well as good client and customer relation skills with the ability to work in a team environment. Finally, you’ll be self-motivated to achieve targets, have a business acumen to identify opportunity and can work with engineering teams as well as the management of operational teams and operatives.
