Smeets Transport Ltd are hiring a Transport Manager
Introduction
Smeets is currently seeking a full time, permanent Transport Manager to work directly with the Planning Team to ensure the smooth running of the Eastbound and Westbound teams. The successful candidates will train on both Eastbound and Westbound, to ensure they are able to troubleshoot any potential issues on both. The Eastbound planning role does include a lot of telephone work in order to book reloads, therefore you must be willing to help. The vacancy is based in our office in Stallingborough.
Ideal person
The ideal candidates will have a Transport Managers CPC and come from a transport background. You will have a minimum of 4 years’ experience and have the ability to work alone, as well as in a team. Communication is key in this role.
You must be;
- Excellent communicator, in verbal and written
- Organised
- Able to use your own initiative
- Be proactive in dealings with the planning team
- Able to multi task
Responsibilities
- Ensure all customer processes are followed for exports
- Manage the team, manage all email communication with senior planners
- Support senior planners with requested activity, including, but not exhaustive, contacting drivers, subcontractors, communicating the plan to everyone involved
- Deliver plans and communicate any relevant issues to the relevant person
- Customer service
- Support planners with driver’s hours and timesheet management
- Promoting the business and calling new and existing clients for reloads, as this is an essential part of the role for the planners, so you will be expected to help out when necessary
- Report to the Vice CEO
Full training will be given when starting the role
