Job Title: Heating /Gas Engineer
Job Type -: Temporary / Ongoing with possibility of Perm contract
Location : Norwich & Norfolk
Days of work : 40 hours per week (Monday – Friday, 8am – 4.30pm, with a 30-minute unpaid lunch break)
Salary offered : £33,299 – £37,270 per annum (depending on experience) plus company Van + Fuel card (not for personal use)
Our client a large local housing association responsible for the maintenance and repairs of thousands of properties across Norfolk and Suffolk are currently looking for a Full Time Heating Engineer to work as a part of their maintanace team.
Job Purpose:
To work as part of the Local Delivery Directorate in ensuring that the Association’s properties are kept to the Association’s standard. To ensure that gas servicing, gas related breakdowns and new boiler and system installations are carried out efficiently and effectively and to the customer’s satisfaction. To ensure installations are carried out in accordance with the Association procedures are carried out in accordance with the latest regulations. Manage own workload on a day to day basis with regards to the planned function.
Domestic Gas appliance/s servicing and maintenance , Inspections and Servicing of Domestic Gas Boilers, visual inspections of tenant owned appliances, including minor maintenance and repairs to boilers and associated heating system components. All servicing and maintenance must be completed In Accordance with Gas safe Regulations and appliance manufacturing instructions.
Engineer will need to complete all relevant supporting compliance forms / paperwork and operate a handheld device to manage and complete jobs digitally.
Essential Criteria
Qualifications
- Qualified to CCN1, CENWAT, HTR1, CPA1, CKR1, UVHWS and EEDH
Experience
- Experience of renewable heating systems, including ASHP, Solar Thermal, HR and MVHR accredited qualifications to BPEC level or equivalent.
- Experience of working within the Social Housing sector.

- Responsibilities (Accountability)
- Work on own initiative to ensure that Gas Boiler and System Installations are carried out efficiently and service complaints are minimised.

- Work on own initiative to ensure that first time fixes are maximised.
- Supports other areas of the business such as servicing, breakdowns and gas works within void properties when required.
- You have a duty to ensure your own health and safety at work and that of their colleagues and to co-operate with the Association in order for it to fulfil its legal obligations.
Main activities of the role:
- To work closely with the Local Delivery Manager / Local Delivery Team Leader in all aspects of the heating servicing, repair and installation service as required.
- To refer complex technical queries to the relevant manager in the Technical Services team.
- You are responsible, often working without supervision, for the effective and efficient delivery of your contribution to the gas servicing programme, responsive repair breakdown service, gas boiler and new system installations, as well as gas works within void properties.
- Geographical areas of work will be defined by the Association but will cover Norfolk and North Suffolk
- You will ensure that the work is undertaken in a timely manner consistent with prescribed performance indicators advised.
- You will deal with tenant enquiries and respond in a professional manner reporting anything back to the Local Delivery Manager / Local Delivery Team Leader.
- Be prepared, if requested, to act as a mentor to trainees within the Association and encourage a learning environment.
- You will on a rota-based system be required to be part of the team carrying out work out of hours.
- Comply with the policies and practices of the Association, to deliver and act in accordance with the Association’s Dignity and Diversity Policy and Procedure and to be responsible for undertaking working practices in a safe manner in accordance with the Association’s Health and Safety Policy
- To undertake any other duties as required by the Association from time to time. If these duties are of a greater level of responsibility or skill that those required in the post, then full training and appropriate supervision will be provided.
- To undertake any other duties within other areas such as the servicing and repair of renewable heating installations subject to being sufficiently qualified to carry out such works.
The successful candidate will need to provide copies of any certification as well as have a DBS Check carried out. They need to have a full, valid driving licence as they will be provided a van to use for the duration of their placement. PAYE and CIS (slef-Employed) peyment options available.
The salary band, depending on skills / experience / knowledge would range from £33,299 – £37,270 per annum.
